Awarded the Navy's medal of heroism during World War II and the Pulitzer Prize for his book Profiles in Courage, he was the youngest elected President, serving just over 1,000 days before being shot. 


This was John F. Kennedy, born MAY 29, 1917.


Kennedy stated in his Inaugural, January 20, 1961: 


"I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forbears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago. The world is very different now. 


For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life." 


John F. Kennedy continued: 


"Yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe - The belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God." 


Writing to Brazil's President, Janio da Silva Quadros, January 31, 1961, John F. Kennedy stated: 


"Once in every 20 years presidential inaugurations in your country and mine occur within days of each other. 


This year of 1961 is signalized by the happy coincidence. 


At this time, each of us assumes challenging duties...


To each of us is entrusted the heavy responsibility of guiding the affairs of a democratic nation founded on Christian ideals."

Conquering the Enemy of the Spirit of Death


I have to share another very personal message today.  I pray it ministers to you as you read it.


I believe the date was Wednesday, September 4, 2010.  I was driving my late husband to go lead worship for a major ministry in the Dallas area.  He was pale, slim and very sick with stomach cancer.  As I was driving, I remember looking over at Bryan lying back in the front seat of the car.  His eyes were closed from exhaustion from being up all night in severe pain & vomiting non- stop.  I had told him earlier that he didn’t have to go lead worship that the ministry staff would definitely understand him not being able to go.  He insisted on going.  Anyway, when I looked at him so frail with hardly any life, all of a sudden for a split second the devil told me to take a good look at Bryan because that is what he would look like in the casket.  My spirit man rose up with everything inside me & yelled, NO, death has no hold over him or me.  I began to worship God because I knew that Christ had already conquered death, so why did I need to fear death?   For me, it had been a strong hold on me, and at that very moment what the devil thought he would take me down with became a huge break through for me.  I realized no more did I need to allow the spirit of death to taunt me anymore, no more thoughts, or that churning in my stomach from fear.  I said, what can the devil do to me? Nothing!  I began speaking My God is greater & has overcome the grave!  Hallelujah, Jesus is Alive!


I don’t know what spirit of death that may have tried to take a hold of you.  Could it be that you have been given a grim report from the doctor, has your relationship with Christ shriveled up to nothing and you feel dead to Him, or has your marriage been dead & gone a long time.  I am here to tell you today that God has conquered the enemy of the sprit of death, so you can rejoice & live again!  Live with purpose knowing that Satan has no hold on you.  The price was paid a long time ago.


I must say it again, whatever has died in your life, it doesn’t matter what it was or is – Jesus has conquered death, hell, and the grave for you.  Hallelujah!!  Rejoice and start prophesying life back to your dead things!


I love Ezekiel 37:4-9 “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life.  I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord. ’” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.


I prophesy life over anything that has tried to bring death or the stench of death- thoughts in your mind, to the fears or situations that may arise?


I hear the rattling of God doing some incredible things in your life.  Can you hear the bones moving and life coming back?  I speak life over you now and to your situation that seems bleak.  I declare that you have conquered the spirit of death and you are alive in Him!  I speak the breath of God to refresh you now.  “You will live and not die and declare the works of the Lord!”

In the death gloom of gas, the bursting of shells and rain of bullets, men face more intimately the great God over all...I can sense the prayers of our people, of all peoples, that this Armistice Day shall mark the beginning of a new and lasting era of peace on earth, good will among men. Let me join in that prayer.


Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever Amen.

He left Yale for four years to fight in the Revolutionary War. 


After graduation, he became a lawyer and taught school in New York. 


Dissatisfied with the children's spelling books, he wrote the famous Blue-Backed Speller, which sold over one hundred million copies. 


After twenty-six years of work, he published the first American Dictionary of the English Language. 


His name was Noah Webster, and he died MAY 28, 1843. 


In his 1788 essay, "On the Education of Youth in America," printed in Webster's American Magazine, Noah Webster wrote: 


"Select passages of Scripture...may be read in schools, to great advantage. In some countries the common people are not permitted to read the Bible at all. In ours, it is as common as a newspaper and in schools is read with nearly the same degree of respect."


Noah Webster continued: 


"My wish is not to see the Bible excluded from schools but to see it used as a system of religion and morality." 


In his History of the United States, 1832, Noah Webster wrote: 


"The brief exposition of the Constitution of the United States, will unfold to young persons the principles of republican government...


The genuine source of correct republican principles is the Bible, particularly the New Testament or the Christian religion." 


Noah Webster continued in The History of the United States, 1832: 


"All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible."

You are crowned with love & compassion

Death, Hell & The Grave Have Been Defeated! He’s Alive!!  He Has Risen from the dead! IT IS FINISHED!

Thank you Lord for laying your life down for us.   We will never forget the price that you paid, you took the fall for us!  You were the ultimate sacrifice- Holy & Righteous!  It’s your blood that frees us!  I WILL Worship & say- IT IS FINISHED!

We have a reason to celebrate His Resurrection Power - there is life & liberty in Jesus, because IT IS FINISHED!

Dear Precious Lord,

We, your people, love you! We are honored to be called your children. We acknowledge our sins against you. We desire to be forgiven as your people and our nation cleansed from our sin of rebelling against you.

We understand your ways are not our ways, and apart from you and your Holy Spirit, we can, and will return to the sinful ways of man.

For your great name’s sake-Rescue America; and its people, one more time! Return your fire to the pulpits, return your fire to the homes, and return your fire to the towns and villages! And, oh God! Give us righteous leaders to rule over us!

It’s in Jesus’ name that I pray!

DAY 3 - DAILY HISTORY - MAY 27, 2012

    Twentieth-Century Fox made a motion picture in 1955 titled A Man Called Peter, about the life of U.S. Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall, born MAY 27, 1902. 


At the age of 25, Peter Marshall emigrated from Scotland, arriving at New York's Ellis Island in 1927. Members of his Sunday school class paid his way to seminary in Atlanta, where he graduated in 1931.


Peter Marshall pastored a small church in Covington, Georgia, then preached at Atlanta's Westminster Presbyterian Church.


There he met Catherine Wood, a student at Agnes Scott College, and they married.


In 1937, at the age of 35, he became pastor of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. His services were attended by leaders, such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt.


In 1938, Peter Marshall became a U.S. citizen.


Catherine Marshall's book on Peter's life, A Man Called Peter, was turned into the movie by the same title. Her novel, Christy, was made into a CBS television series. 


Peter Marshall stated:


"The world has enough women who are popular. It needs more who are pure. We need women, and men, too, who would rather be morally right than socially correct.”


Peter and Catherine's son, Peter Marshall, Jr., wrote with co-author David Manuel numerous best-selling books chronicling the Providential expansion of liberty throughout American history, such as: The Light and the Glory; From Sea to Shining Sea; and Sounding Forth The Trumpet. 


On January 4, 1947 the Senate appointed Peter Marshall to be their U.S. Senate Chaplain. He prayed: 


"O Lord our God, even at this moment as we come blundering into Thy presence in prayer, we are haunted by memories of duties unperformed, promptings disobeyed, and beckonings ignored. Opportunities to be kind knocked on the door of our hearts and went weeping away."


On January 13, 1947, U.S. Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall stated: 


"The choice before us is plain: Christ or chaos, conviction or compromise, discipline or disintegration. I am rather tired of hearing about our rights...The time is come to hear about responsibilities...


America's future depends upon her accepting and demonstrating God's government." 


On May 22, 1947, during the 80th Congress, Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall offered the prayer:


"God of our fathers, give unto us, thy servants, a true appreciation of our heritage, of great men and great deeds in the past, but let us not be intimidated by feelings of our own inadequacies for this troubled hour. 


Remind us that the God they worshiped, and by whose help they laid the foundations of our Nation, is still able to help us uphold what they bequeathed and give it meaning."


On July 3, 1947, the day before Independence Day, Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall prayed: 


"God of our Fathers, whose Almighty hand hath made and preserved our Nation, grant that our people may understand what it is they celebrate tomorrow. 


May they remember how bitterly our freedom was won, the down payment that was made for it, the installments that have been made since this Republic was born, and the price that must be paid for our liberty. 


May freedom be seen not as the right to do as we please but as the opportunity to please to do what is right. May it be ever understood that our liberty is under God and can be found nowhere else. May our faith be something that is not merely stamped upon our coins, but expressed in our lives. 


Let us, as a nation, be not afraid of standing alone for the rights of men, since we were born that way, as the only nation on earth that came into being 'for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.' We know that we shall be true to the Pilgrim dream when we are true to the God they worshiped. 


To the extent that America honors Thee, wilt Thou bless America, and keep her true as Thou hast kept her free, and make her good as Thou hast made her rich. Amen."


Peter Marshall died of a heart attack in 1949 at the age of 45.


Just 6 months before he died, June 11, 1948, Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall opened Congress with the prayer:


"Help us, our Father, to show other nations an America to imitate...the America that loves fair play, honest dealing, straight talk, real freedom and faith in God."

Great is His Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23(NLT) “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Most of you know me well enough to know, I always have a song in my mind and on my heart. For me, there is something about worship music that soothes the soul and heals the heart. I have experienced that time and time again.

As I was preparing for this devotional, I was thinking of God’s Faithfulness. Then, as I was listening to some of my late husband’s worship, Bryan began singing the hymn, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. As Bryan was singing the song, I was intrigued how someone could write such incredible words. When I read about the man who wrote the great hymn, I was in awe of God. You have to hear his story.

Thomas Chisolm had such a difficult life with serious illnesses to where he would be confined to bed for periods of time. He would somehow push himself so hard and make himself get out of bed just to make ends meet with his jobs. After getting saved in his late 20’s, he found great comfort in the Word of God. He began writing many poems. Great is Thy Faithfulness became one of his greatest songs. Read the words to the song, and let them settle in your spirit and encourage you as you read them. Let it be a faith declaration for you today- Great is His Faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Maybe, you can relate to the writer of this song and you’ve had some bad things that have happened to you. I can see the mighty hand of God reaching down to scoop you up just like a Father would his children. Get your faith eye glasses on and see it while you sing, Great is His Faithfulness!

As it says in Psalms, I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging for bread. Great is His Faithfulness!

I sense there might be someone reading this devotional and maybe the pain in your body is so intense, maybe you don’t understand why your loved one had to die, or maybe things seem at their darkest hour. Life sometimes doesn’t make sense. I know for me, it really hasn’t made sense at all. I could allow the enemy to take me down, but instead I choose to Trust in Him. When I look back and think about the Lord, all I can say is, Great is His Faithfulness!

Maybe, you are like me and just feel like the enemy is trying to take you down. I am here to tell you that He is Faithful. Look at 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (TNIV) says, “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” The Lord is with you. He is calling you a mighty warrior! Don’t give up. I encourage you to find comfort in God’s Word & let His Word be your weapon. He who called you is So Faithful!

Lord, I ask that you would come and fill each person that is crying out to you now. Give them new hope and a brighter outlook on their future. Fill them up with fresh anointing and new mercies I pray in Jesus Name

“I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 89:1)

Dear Heavenly Father,

It is with humbling gratitude that we thank you for the abundance of blessings you have poured out on our nation.  Please help us, Lord, to have a giving spirit toward others who are less fortunate and a compassion for those who are suffering, showing the grace you give us so freely.  May we find ways to spread your word and minister with a servant heart, both here and abroad.    

Help us to listen to your voice, learn your ways, and live a life pleasing to you….showing encouragement instead of criticism, mercy instead of anger, faith instead of doubt, and joy instead of hopelessness.  Protect our families, our schools, and our churches, and please give us your guidance and strength.  Forgive our nation for forgetting you and help us to become truly “one nation, under God.”

Oscar winning actor Marion Michael Morrison, better known as John Wayne, was born MAY 26, 1907.


A U.S.C. football player, he worked behind-the-scenes at Fox Studios, before being discovered by director John Ford, who cast him in epic western and war films.


On MAY 26, 1979, Jimmy Carter said:


"I have today approved...a specially struck gold medal to John Wayne.


For nearly half a century, the Duke has symbolized the American ideals of integrity, courage, patriotism, and strength and has represented to the world many of the deepest values that this Nation respects."


Ronald Reagan said November 5, 1984:


"I noted the news coverage about the death of my friend, John Wayne. One headline read 'The Last American Hero.'...


No one would be angrier than Duke Wayne at the suggestion that he was America's last hero.


Just before he died, he said in his unforgettable way, 'Just give the American people a good cause, and there's nothing they can't lick.'"


In his album, America-Why I Love Her, 1977, John Wayne stated:


"If we want to keep these freedoms, we may have to fight again. God forbid, but if we do, let's always fight to win...


Face the flag, son...and thank God it's still there."

Light Up

Isaiah 60 (NKJV)  “Arise, shine; for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”

When I was a growing up, we lived in the great state of Georgia in a small town outside the city.  In the summertime after dark, fireflies would come out.  You could see them everywhere just glowing.  They lit up the dark night with all the light that came from them.   It was a spectacular sight to see.   You knew they were around you because of the light that illuminated from them.

Just as fireflies light up and are seen all around, so should we light up.  I love what the Amplified Bible says, Isaiah 60:1  “ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you”!

Is your light shining brightly for Him? Arise & Shine!  I’m reminded of the song we sang in children’s church, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.”  Will you let your light shine?   Let your light dispel the darkness! His Glory on you brings nations and kings to you because of your light.  

Look what Isaiah 60: 2-3 says, “For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.  The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

I pray that God will radiate His Glory all over you today.  Even your shadow as you walk to and fro in this world, will cause men & women, young & old to come to Him because of the illumination of His Glory all over you.  Arise & Shine and light up your world for Him!

DAY 1 - DAILY PRAYER (MISSIONS) - MAY 25, 2012

JEHOVAH-NISSI (The Lord our banner),

We thank you for the opportunity to serve you today Lord - as Your people; those who have accepted You as their God, and have taken up a banner to proclaim Your name across this world!  Your great name…the name of all names under Heaven and on Earth!  Father, as You have called us to be a light unto this world.  Let Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ be seen in the faces of each person who serves You in this world.  May their hands and feet humbly carry out Your will Lord, and not theirs.  Keep the enemy bound from their travels, daily activities, and even from their family and possessions as they serve you today.  We ask for your hand of protection for all who go out into this dying world in service to You. We humbly beseech you Father that the seeds that will be planted today might produce luscious vines - and not fall upon harsh ground.  That every man and woman in Your service today might praise You from the time that they awake, until the time that they slumber, and that everyone within hearing distance might also seek you today.  Lord, we ask that you renew Your Holy Spirit in each of us; that we might walk a righteous path today, and not be lead into temptation.  Foster the work in us today, that we might cause the angels in Heaven to be joyous over one sinner who repents, and accepts Your son as their savior.  Thank you Father for the plans that You have for us, and the great gift of service that You have bestowed upon us for Your Glory!

We pray this today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.  Amen!

    "America is another name for opportunity. Our whole history appears like a last effort of divine Providence in behalf of the human race" wrote poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. 


Born MAY 25, 1803, Ralph Waldo Emerson was friends with writers Nathaniel Hawthorne and Louisa May Alcott. 


He composed some of the best loved poems in American literature, including The Concord Hymn, written in 1837 for the dedication of the monument where the battle at North Bridge took place April 19, 1775. 


Ralph Waldo Emerson's most recognizable stanza is inscribed on the base of Daniel Chester French's Minute Man Statue: 


"By the rude bridge that arched the flood, 
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled; 
Here once the embattled farmers stood; 
And fired the shot heard round the world. 
The foe long since in silence slept; 
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps, 
And Time the ruined bridge has swept,

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,


At the conclusion of this years 40-Day Prayer, I would especially like to thank each of you for your faithfulness to this nation, it's people, and our religious heritage.  Through our humble and continual prayer and intercession for this county, we hope to be blessed once again by our loving Father.  The word of God promises that wherever two or more are gathered in prayer, He will be also (Matthew 18:20). Thank the Lord for His promise to hear our supplication, and answer our fervent prayers.  May He richly bless the efforts of our time in seeking His face, and may He shower down the abundant blessings from His great storehouses.


Please celebrate the Independence of this great nation tomorrow (July 4th), and proclaim throughout this land that we are a Christian nation....one that serves the God of God's, King of King's, and Lord of Lord's. May we always live in a land where we are free to pray to the one God, creator of all things.


God bless you, and may He hold you free from harm.  May we once again gather next year, and again seek His blessings for our nation through prayer.

American Minute for July 3rd:


    Washington, D.C., was in a panic as 70,000 Confederate troops were just sixty miles away near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The furious battle had lasted three days. As General Lee found his ammunition running low, he ordered General Pickett to make a direct attack. After an hour of murderous fire and bloody hand-to-hand combat, the Confederates were pushed back and the Battle of Gettysburg ended JULY 3, 1863, with over 50,000 casualties. President Abraham Lincoln confided to a general wounded in the battle: "When everyone seemed panic-stricken...I went to my room...and got down on my knees before Almighty God and prayed." Days later, July 15, 1863, President Lincoln proclaimed a National Day of Thanksgiving, Praise and Prayer: "It is meet and right to recognize and confess the presence of the Almighty Father and the power of His hand equally in these triumphs and in these sorrows...I invite the people of the United States to...render the homage due to the Divine Majesty for the wonderful things He has done in the nation's behalf and invoke the influence of His Holy Spirit to subdue the anger which has produced and so long sustained a needless and cruel rebellion."

American Minute for July 2nd:


    One bullet grazed his elbow, but a second lodged in the back of President James Garfield, who, on JULY 2, 1881, was shot as he waited in a Washington, D.C., train station by Charles Guiteau, a member of a polygamist-type communist cult. Garfield had only been in office four months. Though not wounded seriously, unsterile medical practices caused him to die two months later. A distinguished Civil War major general, James Garfield had been a college president and a preacher for the Disciples of Christ. In his Inaugural Address, March 4, 1881, President James Garfield stated: "Let our people find a new meaning in the divine oracle which declares that 'a little child shall lead them,' for our own little children will soon control the destinies of the Republic." President Garfield continued: "Our children will not be divided...concerning our controversies. They will surely bless their fathers and their fathers' God that the Union was preserved, that slavery was overthrown, and that both races were made equal before the law." Earlier, as U.S. Congressman chairing the Committee on Appropriations, James Garfield stated July 4, 1876: "If the next century does not find us a great nation...it will be because those who represent the...morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces."
