Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

THANK YOU PRAYER WARRIORS!

Upon the conclusion of this special 40-Day prayer event, I would like to personally thank each of you for your faithfulness to this nation. Through our humble prayer and intercession for this county, we hope to be blessed once again by our loving Father. The word of God promises that wherever two or more are gathered in prayer, He will be also (Matthew 18:20). Thank the Lord for His promise to hear our supplication, and answer our fervent prayers. May He richly bless the efforts of our time in seeking His face, and may He shower down the abundant blessings from His great storehouses.

Please celebrate the Independence of this great nation tomorrow (July 4th), and proclaim throughout this land that we are a Christian nation....one that serves the God of God's, King of King's, and Lord of Lord's. May we always live in a land where we are free to pray to the one God, creator of all things.

God bless you, and may He hold you free from harm.  May we once again gather next year, and again seek His blessings for our nation through prayer.

In Christ,

DAY 40 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (THANKS) - JULY 3, 2010

1 Chronicles 16:8
 (NIV)

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

DAY 40 - DAILY PRAYER (THANK YOU) - JULY 3, 2010

Our Father,

We wish to thank you for all of Your grace and mercy during these 40 days of prayer.  Our needs and thanks have been lifted before Your throne for America.  Lord, You have told us in Your word that we are aliens to this world, but through Your plans to prosper us, we have been placed throughout this great nation.  Bless this soil, as it belongs to You alone.  May we humbly serve out Your will upon this nation, and have hope that our actions and use of this land are pleasing to You Dear Father.  During this 40 day focus on the needs of America, we have humbly beseeched Your mighty hand in many areas of necessity.  From those who are in authority over us, to our American families.  From the West coast to our East coasts, and the trouble in the Gulf of Mexico. We seek Your grace and mercy all the way to the heartland of this county.

As our creator, we place our firm trust in You alone to come to our aid.  We know You as healer and redeemer.  Heal Your people and this land.....deliver us from the evil one, and his plans to divide this nation's people.  Allow us to seek Your face, and to fall upon our knees in humility before You.  Rock the very foundation of our greedy hold upon Your great possession.  Oh God, Free us from the snares that Satan has captured this great nation in.  Place us in Your hand alone.......hands of peace and grace.  Return us to a God serving nation....reliant upon You alone for our very lives.  Help us to live lives of holiness and purity.  Strengthen our weakness, and fortify our provision.  Grant this nation a continued liberty, and do not suffer us to defeat by our foes.  We ask for all favor upon this country......in the precious name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

DAY 40 - DAILY HISTORY VERSE (HUMBLE) - JULY 3, 2010

ZACHARY TAYLOR, JUL. 3, 1849, NATIONAL DAY OF
PRAYER PROCLAMATION DURING A CHOLERA EPIDEMIC:

At a season when the providence of God has manifested itself
in the visitation of a fearful pestilence which is spreading itself
throughout the land, it is fitting that a people whose reliance has ever
been in His protection should humble themselves before His throne,
and, while acknowledging past transgressions, ask a continuance of
the Divine mercy. It is therefore earnestly recommended that the first
Friday in August be observed throughout the United States as a day of
fasting, humiliation, and prayer.
All business will be sustained in the various branches of the
public service on that day; and it is recommended to persons of all
religious denominations to abstain as far as practical from secular
occupations and to assemble in their respective places of public
worship, to acknowledge the Infinite Goodness which has watched
over our existence as a nation, and so long crowned us with manifold
blessings, and to implore the Almighty in His own good time to stay
the destroying hand which is now lifted up against us.

Phone interview with William F. Federer on the 'American Priorities' national radio show - broadcast May 25, 2010

How the 40-day prayer event was started

May 2009 - Lancaster, Ohio

I received a calling on my heart to continue prayer for this great nation.  Although this nation had just participated in the 'National Day of Prayer', and had received God's blessing as an answer to our prayers; I was told that there was an overabundance of blessings that God wanted to pour out on this nation. The grace of God is endless, but He will only respond to our calls through humble prayer.  It is with that message that I call on fellow Christians to join with me in a commitment to ask for God's blessings.  As a nation, we are losing our Christian heritage, and our moral value of being a God fearing country.  During this 40-day commitment to prayer, I will also incorporate our American Judeo-Christian ideals, which were expressed throughout our 200 plus years as a nation.

My personal readings (which I invite you to follow in your homes, churches, and places of work) will be derived from the following books:

If My People...A 40-Day Prayer Guide for Our Nation - By Jack Countryman (Thomas Nelson Publishing)

The American Patriot's Bible - The Word of God and the Shaping of America - Dr. Richard G. Lee - General editor (Thomas Nelson Publishing)

May 2010 - Lancaster, Ohio

As we come together as a united nation in prayer, we must also focus our thoughts upon the challenges and daily struggles that we as a nation face. We must pray for our leaders, armed forces, news media, businesses, schools, churches, and the American family. I will try to post relevant issues that we face during the 40-day prayer mission, that should also be mentioned in our daily prayers.

Thank you for joining me in this calling, and may God bless and keep you.

In Christ,

Wally Ziolo

Creative partnership with William Federer of The American Minute - 2010

The 40-Day Prayer For USA event has recently been blessed, through a unique partnership with a nationally known speaker and best-selling author.  This year, the historical section of the daily prayer will feature material provided directly by William Federer of the 'American Minute'. Through God's grace, and Bill's support of this prayer event, we will be placing a spotlight on the truths of this nation's religious history, as given account through the words of our presidents.

DAY 39 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (GRATITUDE) - JULY 2, 2010

Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

DAY 39 - DAILY PRAYER (GRATITUDE) - JULY 2, 2010

A Prayer of Gratitude

Let us therefore proclaim our gratitude to Providence for manifold blessings--let us be humbly thankful for inherited ideals--and let us resolve to share those blessings and those ideals with our fellow human beings throughout the world.

On that day let us gather in sanctuaries dedicated to worship and in homes blessed by family affection to express our gratitude for the glorious gifts of God; and let us earnestly and humbly pray that He will continue to guide and sustain us in the great unfinished tasks of achieving peace, justice, and understanding among all men and nations and of ending misery and suffering wherever they exist.

John F. Kennedy--Thanksgiving Day, 1963

DAY 39 - DAILY HISTORY (OPPRESSED) - JULY 2, 2010

JOHN F. KENNEDY, JAN. 20, 1961, INAUGURAL:

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we
shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any
friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success
of liberty...Let both sides united to heed in all corners of the earth the
command of Isaiah - to “undo the heavy burdens and to let the
oppressed go free.”(Is. 58:6)...Now the trumpet summons us again -
238 PRAYERS & PRESIDENTS - WILLIAM J. FEDERER
not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle,
though embattled we are; but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight
struggle, year in, and year out, “rejoicing in hope, patient in
tribulation”(Romans 12:12) - a struggle against the common enemies
of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself...
The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this
endeavor will light our country and all who serve it - and the glow
from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans -
ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for
your country...Let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His
blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work
must truly be our own.

Isaiah 33:6

He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

DAY 38 - DAILY PRAYER (FOUNDATION) - JULY 1, 2010

Heavenly Father, You are the real foundation of nations, raising them up
to serve and care for the people dwelling in their boundaries.
I thank You for making me a citizen of this land of freedom
and unlimited opportunity---which are the result of its Christian base.
Send forth your Spirit to this country and make it a source of wisdom
and strength, order and integrity throughout the world. Amen.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, JUN. 14, 1783, TO GOVERNORS ON
DISBANDING ARMY, ON PLAQUE IN ST. PAUL’S CHAPEL,
NY, AND POHICK CHURCH, FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA, WHERE
WASHINGTON WAS VERSTRYMAN 1762-84:

Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt
keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline
the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and
obedience to Government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love
for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at
large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field.
And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose
us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that
Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the
Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and
without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can
never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech
Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
