Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

THANK YOU PRAYER WARRIORS!

Upon the conclusion of this special 40-Day prayer event, I would like to personally thank each of you for your faithfulness to this nation. Through our humble prayer and intercession for this county, we hope to be blessed once again by our loving Father. The word of God promises that wherever two or more are gathered in prayer, He will be also (Matthew 18:20). Thank the Lord for His promise to hear our supplication, and answer our fervent prayers. May He richly bless the efforts of our time in seeking His face, and may He shower down the abundant blessings from His great storehouses.

Please celebrate the Independence of this great nation tomorrow (July 4th), and proclaim throughout this land that we are a Christian nation....one that serves the God of God's, King of King's, and Lord of Lord's. May we always live in a land where we are free to pray to the one God, creator of all things.

God bless you, and may He hold you free from harm.  May we once again gather next year, and again seek His blessings for our nation through prayer.

In Christ,

1 Chronicles 16:8
 (NIV)

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

DAY 40 - DAILY PRAYER (THANK YOU) - JULY 3, 2010

Our Father,

We wish to thank you for all of Your grace and mercy during these 40 days of prayer.  Our needs and thanks have been lifted before Your throne for America.  Lord, You have told us in Your word that we are aliens to this world, but through Your plans to prosper us, we have been placed throughout this great nation.  Bless this soil, as it belongs to You alone.  May we humbly serve out Your will upon this nation, and have hope that our actions and use of this land are pleasing to You Dear Father.  During this 40 day focus on the needs of America, we have humbly beseeched Your mighty hand in many areas of necessity.  From those who are in authority over us, to our American families.  From the West coast to our East coasts, and the trouble in the Gulf of Mexico. We seek Your grace and mercy all the way to the heartland of this county.

As our creator, we place our firm trust in You alone to come to our aid.  We know You as healer and redeemer.  Heal Your people and this land.....deliver us from the evil one, and his plans to divide this nation's people.  Allow us to seek Your face, and to fall upon our knees in humility before You.  Rock the very foundation of our greedy hold upon Your great possession.  Oh God, Free us from the snares that Satan has captured this great nation in.  Place us in Your hand alone.......hands of peace and grace.  Return us to a God serving nation....reliant upon You alone for our very lives.  Help us to live lives of holiness and purity.  Strengthen our weakness, and fortify our provision.  Grant this nation a continued liberty, and do not suffer us to defeat by our foes.  We ask for all favor upon this country......in the precious name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

DAY 40 - DAILY HISTORY VERSE (HUMBLE) - JULY 3, 2010

ZACHARY TAYLOR, JUL. 3, 1849, NATIONAL DAY OF
PRAYER PROCLAMATION DURING A CHOLERA EPIDEMIC:

At a season when the providence of God has manifested itself
in the visitation of a fearful pestilence which is spreading itself
throughout the land, it is fitting that a people whose reliance has ever
been in His protection should humble themselves before His throne,
and, while acknowledging past transgressions, ask a continuance of
the Divine mercy. It is therefore earnestly recommended that the first
Friday in August be observed throughout the United States as a day of
fasting, humiliation, and prayer.
All business will be sustained in the various branches of the
public service on that day; and it is recommended to persons of all
religious denominations to abstain as far as practical from secular
occupations and to assemble in their respective places of public
worship, to acknowledge the Infinite Goodness which has watched
over our existence as a nation, and so long crowned us with manifold
blessings, and to implore the Almighty in His own good time to stay
the destroying hand which is now lifted up against us.

Phone interview with William F. Federer on the 'American Priorities' national radio show - broadcast May 25, 2010

How the 40-day prayer event was started

May 2009 - Lancaster, Ohio

I received a calling on my heart to continue prayer for this great nation.  Although this nation had just participated in the 'National Day of Prayer', and had received God's blessing as an answer to our prayers; I was told that there was an overabundance of blessings that God wanted to pour out on this nation. The grace of God is endless, but He will only respond to our calls through humble prayer.  It is with that message that I call on fellow Christians to join with me in a commitment to ask for God's blessings.  As a nation, we are losing our Christian heritage, and our moral value of being a God fearing country.  During this 40-day commitment to prayer, I will also incorporate our American Judeo-Christian ideals, which were expressed throughout our 200 plus years as a nation.

My personal readings (which I invite you to follow in your homes, churches, and places of work) will be derived from the following books:

If My People...A 40-Day Prayer Guide for Our Nation - By Jack Countryman (Thomas Nelson Publishing)

The American Patriot's Bible - The Word of God and the Shaping of America - Dr. Richard G. Lee - General editor (Thomas Nelson Publishing)

May 2010 - Lancaster, Ohio

As we come together as a united nation in prayer, we must also focus our thoughts upon the challenges and daily struggles that we as a nation face. We must pray for our leaders, armed forces, news media, businesses, schools, churches, and the American family. I will try to post relevant issues that we face during the 40-day prayer mission, that should also be mentioned in our daily prayers.

Thank you for joining me in this calling, and may God bless and keep you.

In Christ,

Wally Ziolo

Creative partnership with William Federer of The American Minute - 2010

The 40-Day Prayer For USA event has recently been blessed, through a unique partnership with a nationally known speaker and best-selling author.  This year, the historical section of the daily prayer will feature material provided directly by William Federer of the 'American Minute'. Through God's grace, and Bill's support of this prayer event, we will be placing a spotlight on the truths of this nation's religious history, as given account through the words of our presidents.

DAY 39 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (GRATITUDE) - JULY 2, 2010

Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

DAY 39 - DAILY PRAYER (GRATITUDE) - JULY 2, 2010

A Prayer of Gratitude

Let us therefore proclaim our gratitude to Providence for manifold blessings--let us be humbly thankful for inherited ideals--and let us resolve to share those blessings and those ideals with our fellow human beings throughout the world.

On that day let us gather in sanctuaries dedicated to worship and in homes blessed by family affection to express our gratitude for the glorious gifts of God; and let us earnestly and humbly pray that He will continue to guide and sustain us in the great unfinished tasks of achieving peace, justice, and understanding among all men and nations and of ending misery and suffering wherever they exist.

DAY 39 - DAILY HISTORY (OPPRESSED) - JULY 2, 2010

JOHN F. KENNEDY, JAN. 20, 1961, INAUGURAL:

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we
shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any
friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success
of liberty...Let both sides united to heed in all corners of the earth the
command of Isaiah - to “undo the heavy burdens and to let the
oppressed go free.”(Is. 58:6)...Now the trumpet summons us again -
238 PRAYERS & PRESIDENTS - WILLIAM J. FEDERER
not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle,
though embattled we are; but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight
struggle, year in, and year out, “rejoicing in hope, patient in
tribulation”(Romans 12:12) - a struggle against the common enemies
of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself...
The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this
endeavor will light our country and all who serve it - and the glow
from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans -
ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for
your country...Let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His
blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work
must truly be our own.

Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt

DAY 37 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (LAMP) - JUNE 30, 2010

Proverbs 6:23 (NIV)

For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life,

DAY 37 - DAILY PRAYER (LAMP) - JUNE 30, 2010

Dear God,

I start my prayer by declaring the words that you gave to David in Psalms 119. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I pray your word over my family in the name of Jesus, for your Word says train up a child in the way he should go and when He is old He will not depart from it. I pray that you will teach me how to train my child or children in the way they should go. I know your Word will show me. You said blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. I pray that you will turn this nation back to God so that we do not lose the blessing you have promised to the nations which honor and respect you. You command us in your word to pray for our leaders and so I humbly come before you lifting up our local and national leaders that they will hear the voice of God and follow it. Your Word tells me how to pray and so I close this prayer by declaring and decreeing the prayer you taught your disciples to pray. Our Father, which art in heaven hallowed (Holy) is your name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We speak healing, forgiveness and deliverance over our lives and our nation in the name of Jesus AMEN!

DWIGHT EISENHOWER, OCT. 24, 1954, MARKING THE 75TH

Faith and the American individual. Yes, it is on these two
pillars that our future rests. It was Thomas Edison who said: “Be

INSPIRING FAITH FROM LEADERS OF THE PAST 229
courageous; be as brave as your fathers before you. Have faith. Go
forward.” Seventy-five years ago this very week, Tom Edison-a humble,
typical sort of American-put this credo into action and gave a new
light to the world. It is faith that has made our Nation-has made it, and
kept it free.

DAY 36 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (SALVATION) - JUNE 29, 2010

1 Chronicles 16:23

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.

DAY 36 - DAILY PRAYER (SAVE US) - JUNE 29, 2010

"Lord Jesus, as Thou dost move amoung people and see what men are doing today, how sore must be Thy heart.

Thou whose head was cradled in straw must often reflect that straw was not as coarse as man's selfishness.

Thou whose hands were spread upon a cross and fastened with nails much often reflect that nails were never so sharp as man's ingratitude.

Hear us as we pray for this poor blundering world, in which the nations never seem to learn how to live as brothers.

They resort again and again to methods that produce only more bitter tears, methods that only add to misery and subtract nothing from problems.

Heal them that need healing, make strong the wavering, guide the perplexed, befriend the lonely, give faith and courage to those whose spirits are low.

Lift up our heads, put a new light in our eyes and a new song in our hearts, and we will do better and be better for the sake of Thy love. Amen."

ANDREW JACKSON, SEP. 11, 1834, TO SON, ANDREW, JR:

I nightly offer up my prayers to the Throne of Grace for the
health and safety of you all, and that we ought all to rely with confidence
on the promises of our dear Redeemer, and give Him our hearts. This
is all He requires and all that we can do, and if we sincerely do this, we
are sure of salvation through his atonement.

Proverbs 13:11
 (NIV)

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

DAY 35 - DAILY PRAYER (ECONOMY) - JUNE 28, 2010

For a Better Economy

O God, I pray in the Name of Your Son, Jesus, for our country's economy. I know that even more than a strong military, a strong economy helps keep a nation powerful. Father, I ask that You would raise up people of skill and wisdom who will affect our financial future. Give them inspired ideas and a voice with the powers that be. Cause Congress to vote aright in these matters. Give them foresight so that provision might be made for our nation's future, not just its present.
Father, as the people continue to finance the spread of Your Word and help the poor all over the world, I pray that You would continue to prosper us more and more so that we may continue to assist others less fortunate, in this country and across the globe. Amen.

By ceasing to run in debt and applying the surplus of our crops
and incomes to the discharge of existing obligations...we shall see our
country soon recover from a temporary depression...
Fortunately for us at this moment, when the balance of trade
is greatly against us and the difficulty of meeting it enhanced by the
disturbed state of our money affairs, the bounties of Providence have
come to relieve us from the consequences of past errors...
Our surplus profits, the energy and industry of our population,
and the wonderful advantages which Providence has bestowed upon
our country...will in due time afford abundant means.

DAY 34 - DAILY PRAYER (PRESIDENT) - JUNE 27, 2010

Prayer for Our President

O Jesus, in Your Holy Name, I lift up our president to You. I know that our leader's heart is in Your Hand, so I ask You to guide the head of our nation in the way You would have him go. Lord, I pray that You would surround our president with wise counsel--men and women of moral integrity who place Your agenda and the good of this great nation above their own and whose motives are for that which is right.
I pray that You would give our leader discernment, understanding, and knowledge so that our country may know stability internally and abroad. I give You thanks for our president according to Your Word, and thank You for working in and through his leadership so that we might lead peaceable lives in godliness and honesty. Amen.

DAY 33 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (BLESSINGS) - JUNE 26, 2010

Deuteronomy 28:2

All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God:

DAY 33 - DAILY PRAYER (BLESSINGS) - JUNE 26, 2010

Heavenly Father,

Your servant Abraham Lincoln said this about America on April 30, 1863, “We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven.  We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity.  We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power, as no other nation has ever grown.  But we have forgotten God.”
He is so right about the blessings that we have received.  Those gifts keep coming even to this day and we thank You for all of them.
But, if it is true that America had forgotten You 147 years ago, it is still true today.  We seem to be moving at a faster pace than ever before and more quickly away from You.  Some of us have resisted You while others of us have neglected You.  Please forgive us of this most serious transgression.
Let us claim the promise that You gave us through Your servant James.  In his book, chapter four and verse eight, he challenged us to “come near to God and He will come near to you.”  Please give us the courage, wisdom, and strength to draw closer to You so that we can enjoy a close, personal relationship with You.  You are our only hope.  Help us to remember You as a nation so we can continue to be a blessing to others and receive the blessings You have for us.
In the name of Your only begotten Son we pray,
Amen

JAMES MONROE, NOV. 16, 1818, 2ND ANNUAL MESSAGE:

For these inestimable blessings we can not but be grateful to
that Providence which watches over the destiny of nations...
When we view the blessings with which our country has been
favored, those which we now enjoy, and the means which we possess
of handing them down unimpaired to our latest posterity, our attention
is irresistibly drawn to the source from whence they flow. Let us then,
unite in offering our most grateful acknowledgments for these blessings
to the Divine Author of All Good.

Sorry for the late post for Friday, June 25th

We were experiencing internet difficulties today, but we are not defeated!  Praise God for all that He does to allow us to further His kingdom.

DAY 32 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (HUNGRY) - JUNE 25, 2010

for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

DAY 32 - DAILY PRAYER (THE STREETS) - JUNE 25, 2010

Anyway, what I'm seeing from here in Tacoma is a breakthrough of hope destroying despair. It's really spreading out, but there's a definite difference in the spiritual atmosphere here vs. Seattle. We've been mostly working with homeless/addicts/mentally ill people. The work that's being done by the body here through food, prayer, help, ministry, and just straight up love-of-Jesus is really making an impact. Really, the hope comes from becoming "not condemned" and "not punishable" through a relationship with our Creator.

Father,

I'm praying for 'that hope' to continue to come through His body everywhere; that we can reach the lost through the love in our hearts, without judgment or condemnation. I'm praying that revival comes from the streets; I don't think it will start in the church buildings.

In Jesus' name. Amen

DAY 32 - DAILY HISTORY (DRUGS) - JUNE 25, 2010

GEORGE H.W. BUSH, JAN. 20, 1989, INAUGURAL:

We as a society must rise up united and express our intolerance.
The most obvious now is drugs. And when that first cocaine was
smuggled in on a ship, it may as well have been a deadly bacteria, so
much has it hurt the body, the soul of our country. And there is much
to be done and to be said, but take my word for it: This scourge will
stop! And so, There is much to do; and tomorrow the work begins. I do
not mistrust the future; I do not fear what is ahead. For our problems
are large, but our heart is larger. Our challenges are great, but our will
is greater. And if our flaws are endless, God’s love is truly
boundless...God bless you and God bless the United States of America.

O Lord, I bring our Supreme Court Justices before You. Knowing that they are appointed by man, I pray that You will influence the selection of each new replacement. Guide them to choose people who will judge morally in every matter brought before them.
As our Justices make their decisions, I pray that their decrees are in accord with Your Will, not that of man. Help them set a standard of justice and balance for the judicial office at large, not only on a national level, but for every adjudicator in our nation. Amen.

ENACTMENT OF 1984 EQUAL ACCESS BILL:

In 1962, the Supreme Court in the New York prayer case
banned the...saying of prayers. In 1963, the Court banned the reading
of the Bible in our public schools. From that point on, the courts pushed
the meaning of the ruling ever outward, so that now our children are
not allowed voluntary prayer.

We even had to pass a law - pass a special law in the Congress
just a few weeks ago - to allow student prayer groups the same access
to school rooms after classes that a Young Marxist Society, for example,
would already enjoy with no opposition...

The 1962 decision opened the way to a flood of similar suits.
Once religion had been made vulnerable, a series of assaults were
made in one court after another, on one issue after another. Cases
were started to argue against tax-exempt status for churches. Suits were
brought to abolish the words “Under God” from the Pledge of
Allegiance, and to remove “In God We Trust” from public documents
and from our currency.

Without God there is no virtue because there is no prompting
of the conscience...without God there is a coarsening of the society;
without God democracy will not and cannot long endure...

America needs God more than God needs America. If we
ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a
Nation gone under.
