Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

DAY 22 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (LIGHT) - JUNE 15, 2010

Genesis 1:14-15 (New International Version)

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so.

DAY 22 - DAILY PRAYER (LIGHT) - JUNE 15, 2010

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men --
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
In Jesus Holy Name Amen.

May the Lord Bless you and keep you

DAY 22 - DAILY HISTORY (LIGHT) - JUNE 15, 2010

RICHARD NIXON, JAN. 20, 1969, FIRST INAUGURAL:

Only a few short weeks ago we shared the glory of man’s first
sight of the world as God sees it, as a single sphere reflecting light in
the darkness. As the Apollo astronauts flew over the moon’s gray surface
on Christmas Eve, they spoke to us of the beauty of earth - and in that
voice so clear across the lunar distance, we heard them invoke God’s
blessing on its goodness. Let us go forward, firm in our faith, steadfast
in our purpose, cautious of the dangers, but sustained by our confidence
in the will of God.

TODAY IS FLAG DAY

DWIGHT EISENHOWER, JUN. 14, 1954, SIGNED THE BILL
PLACING “ONE NATION UNDER GOD” IN THE PLEDGE OF
ALLEGIANCE, THEN RECITED ON THE U.S. CAPITOL STEPS:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

DWIGHT EISENHOWER, JUN. 14, 1954, AFTER SIGNING
RESOLUTION 243 ADDING “UNDER GOD” TO THE PLEDGE:

From this day forward, the millions of our school children will
daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural school
house, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty.
To anyone who truly loves America, nothing could be more inspiring
than to contemplate this rededication of our youth, on each school
morning, to our country’s true meaning...
Over the globe, mankind has been cruelly torn by violence
and brutality and, by the millions, deadened in mind and soul by a
materialistic philosophy of life. Man everywhere is appalled by the
prospect of atomic war. In this somber setting, this law and its effects
today have profound meaning. In this way we are reaffirming the
transcendence of religious faith in America’s heritage and future; in
this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever
will be our country’s most powerful resource, in peace or in war.
