Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

DAY 35 - DAILY BIBLE VERSE (MONEY) - JUNE 28, 2010

Proverbs 13:11
 (NIV)

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

DAY 35 - DAILY PRAYER (ECONOMY) - JUNE 28, 2010

For a Better Economy

O God, I pray in the Name of Your Son, Jesus, for our country's economy. I know that even more than a strong military, a strong economy helps keep a nation powerful. Father, I ask that You would raise up people of skill and wisdom who will affect our financial future. Give them inspired ideas and a voice with the powers that be. Cause Congress to vote aright in these matters. Give them foresight so that provision might be made for our nation's future, not just its present.
Father, as the people continue to finance the spread of Your Word and help the poor all over the world, I pray that You would continue to prosper us more and more so that we may continue to assist others less fortunate, in this country and across the globe. Amen.

DAY 35 - DAILY HISTORY (DEBT) - JUNE 28, 2010

MARTIN VAN BUREN, DEC. 2, 1839, 3RD ANNUAL MESSAGE:

By ceasing to run in debt and applying the surplus of our crops
and incomes to the discharge of existing obligations...we shall see our
country soon recover from a temporary depression...
Fortunately for us at this moment, when the balance of trade
is greatly against us and the difficulty of meeting it enhanced by the
disturbed state of our money affairs, the bounties of Providence have
come to relieve us from the consequences of past errors...
Our surplus profits, the energy and industry of our population,
and the wonderful advantages which Providence has bestowed upon
our country...will in due time afford abundant means.
