Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

Hearts of Worship
Posted on February 13, 2012 by katherine

Exodus 32- Briefly, Moses was up on the mountain with God. Down below, the people were getting tired of waiting for Moses to come back. They wanted to make gods to worship, so they melted their jewelry into golden idols.

Are you tired of waiting on God? Are you tempted to take the situation into your own hands? Or, maybe you are thinking about turning away from God? There are so many things of the world that pull at us each and every day that want our worship. Don’t let anyone or anything take you away from your worship to God. False Idol Worship will kill you, your family, and others around you. That’s what happened in Exodus to the people who worshiped false gods. In verses 27-28, about 3,000 people died from one end of the camp to the other including brothers, friends, and neighbors.

Lord, we pray that all the things that are tearing us apart from you would be broken away right now. Forgive us for worshiping other things. We cast down idols and vain imaginations that would try to separate us from You. We take authority over lust of eyes, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. We take up our place in the Kingdom of God, and worship you in Spirit and in Truth. We cry out to you Jesus. You are all we need, for no one else will do. Thank you Lord for giving us a heart of worship. Let this song be your hearts cry today: Heart of Worship by Matt Redman

When the music fades

And all is stripped away

And I simply come

Longing just to bring

Something that’s of worth

That will bless your heart

I’ll bring You more than a song

For a song in itself

Is not what You have required

You search much deeper within

Through the ways things appear

You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship

And it’s all about You

All about You, Jesus

I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it

When it’s all about You

It’s all about You Jesus
