Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

DAY 24 - DAILY PRAYER (BLESSINGS) - JUNE 17, 2013

June 17

Lord, we come before you with thanksgiving and praise. We just want to say thank you for the love you show us, and for Your unending grace. We ask You father this day that you assist us to seek You, and that You will keep us and guide us. Please don’t allow us to fall, but keep us surrounded by your protective hands. Bless this nation Lord, as so many of us need You and do not have a clue where to turn. We know that we have a Father that can move mountains, and we ask in the name of Jesus that You will keep us. Forgive us for our sins, as we have forgiven others whom have forgiven us.

Thank You Father, and we ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen!
