Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

The Real Help
Posted on June 15, 2013 by katherine

We had a situation that came up today that was a little dis-heartening, hurtful & scary all at the same time. My first reaction was this can’t be happening since I am getting married in 8 days.

I had a choice to make? Was I going to let the situation at hand destroy my peace & cause fear, or was I going to continue trusting God that He brought us this far & He’s not going to leave us now.

I know the journey in life can get a little tiring, dusty, and dirty for all of us at times. Will you be like Job and say, “though he slay me, yet will I trust him?” Or, will you be like Job’s wife and curse God and die?

Be determined to press forward through the battle/valley – don’t settle there & get bogged down- dig your heels in the ground, gain your composure, pray, and stir yourself up in the Lord. Realize that God is still on the throne even in the midst of heartaches, dis-appointments, and even tragedy’s.

I encourage you to be like King David and “Bless the Lord O your soul and all that is within you Bless His Holy Name.”

As I heard God whisper to me tonight, Katherine, this situation is not yours- its mine.” I can hear God saying that to you tonight.. God’s got this.. Don’t fret or worry.. He’s got it.. Just look to Him- that is where your real help comes from, not anyone or anything- Only God!

“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; The one who watches over you will not slumber. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.” Ps. 121
