Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

DAY 36 - DAILY DEVOTION - JUNE 29, 2013

Swept Away by Love
Posted on January 31, 2013 by katherine

I used to think that I wanted to be lavished with gifts & swept away by Mr Charming. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love all of that, but I am finding out more than the gifts being lavished on me, I would rather have His goodness & unfailing love follow me & pursue me all the days of my life.

Love is not bought or by speaking words. Love is not trying to assault me, coerce me, squeeze me, or violate me into loving you. Love is not forced, enslaved, or obligatory.

Love is your lifestyle. Love is displaying your gracious heart full of meekness and your soft answer turning away wrath. It’s not shouting or yelling for me to love you. Love is honesty and integrity when no one is looking. Love is good-hearted, courteous, helpful, virtuous, tender, and full of understanding.

Love is protecting me, preserving the gifts inside of me, encouraging me in what God created me to do, not in just being a wife to you… It goes far deeper than that.. Your love should be freely given & even at the cost of your life. Are you willing to lay your life down for love?

With all of that being said, I am captivated by 1 Cor. 13:4-7 MSG, and it is my pre-requisite for being swept away by love:

“Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle. Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth. Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.”
