Pledge of Allegiance of the United States

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

DAY 35 - DAILY PRAYER (LIBERTY) - JUNE 28, 2012

June 28

Lord, I praise You for the strength You daily give me to live a liberated life.  I thank You that I can declare what Your word declares, that who the Son sets free is free indeed.  I thank You in advance for the areas of freedom I will experience all the days of my life because You are the symbol of my freedom.

I declare today that I have liberty inChrist because of His blood.  I walk in His liberty over every form of addiction that might try to plague my life.  I walk in freedom over attacks on my family, faith, and finances.  Lord, I declare and know that I am liberated through You.  Thank You!  As the flag of our country stands for liberty, You stand firm in my life as a symbol of unwavering, unfailing liberty. Thank You, today that you are my liberty.  In Jesus' name.  Amen!
